Rules – She Ships Hackathon Dates
  • Hackathon Sprint: March 6–8, 2026

  • Submissions Close: March 8, 2026 at 1:00PM (local time)

  • Winners Announcement: April 30, 2026

All projects must be started and developed during the official 48-hour sprint period.

Eligibility
  • She Ships is open to women and people who identify as women.

  • Participants must be 18 years or older.

  • Participants may join individually or in teams.

  • Sponsors, judges and organizers may not compete.

  • Participants must comply with all applicable local laws and platform rules (Devpost).

By participating, you confirm that you are eligible and agree to these rules.

 

Project & Submission Requirements

To be considered valid, all submissions must meet the following criteria:

1. Built During the Sprint

Projects must be created during the official hackathon dates (March 6–8).
Pre-existing projects are not allowed, though existing tools, frameworks, and APIs may be used.

2. 8M-Aligned Problem

The project must address a real-world issue related to gender equity, women’s experiences, or systemic challenges aligned with the spirit of International Women’s Day (8M).

The connection must be clearly explained in the submission.

By participating, you confirm that you are eligible and agree to these rules.

3. Functional & Public Output

Submissions must include a public, accessible link such as:

  • A live web app or website

  • A GitHub repository

  • A Figma prototype

  • A published digital product (research, comic, etc.)

  • Any functional or publicly viewable solution

The link must not require special access permissions.

4. Devpost Submission Must Include:
  • Project title

  • Short description

  • Clear explanation of the problem and solution

  • Public project link

  • Tools and technologies used

  • At least one visual (screenshot, mockup, or demo image)

Optional (but encouraged):

  • A demo video (max 2 minutes)

Code of Conduct

She Ships is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants.

Harassment, discrimination, or exclusionary behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes offensive comments related to gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, religion, or technology choices.

Participants who violate this code may be disqualified and removed from the event.
